We’re leaving one week from today. What I’m most looking forward to is NOT having to clean a toilet that four males regularly pee in (or around). And not having to plunge that toilet when it becomes clogged every day. I don’t care if I have to hover over a hole in the ground; it’s got to be better than cleaning up after that grossness.
The last time we took a long road trip we went to Kansas City, Kansas. At that time we drove the Toyota Matrix, which, despite the objections of my children, I had named Dotty (after my neighbor who will be 99 this August. I’m hoping my neighbor’s longevity carries over to my car.) We didn’t camp at all on that trip, so we didn’t have as much to take along, and the boys were all smaller, so they fit pretty well in the back seat. But Dotty wasn’t going to work for this trip, so we got a van, and HE has been named Jose. I have crossed “buy a van” off my list.
Yesterday I asked Jeff to build me a shelf system for the back of the van so I wouldn’t have to pile things on top of each other. As I measured and planned for exactly what I wanted, I thought of something that made me panic. For the two weeks Jeff will be with us, we’ll need to use that way-back seat. That changed all my packing plans!
To make sure all our items would fit, I had a “practice pack” today. I hauled out everything we’ll be taking with us and packed it. Whoever sits in the back seat may be a little cramped, but it’ll all fit.

ReplyDeletemake sure the cooler is facing the right way so the boys can open it while driving!!
ReplyDeletePoor Jeff!!
You didn't tell me there would be AIR HORNS!!! I'd be packed and ready to cram myself in if I'd known that!
ReplyDeleteFeels like I'm right there with you this way though. We'll make sure Jeff is well taken care of. As though we'll need to do that!!!
He's doing the happy dance in his head as we type.
